Hugo Southwell

Born in London, Hugo Southwell was a club and International full back. Having attended the University of the West of England, Southwell began his rugby career at Worcester Warriors in 2002. A year on he moved to Edinburgh where he spent 7 years years playing for the capital’s club before heading to Paris, France to link up with Stade Francais in 2009. After two years playing in the French Top 14, the fullback made the switch to London Wasps where he became an integral member of the setup being voted players’ Player of the Year in 2012 and being made Club Captain in 2012-2013.

Southwell made his international debut in 2004 playing for Scotland and accumulated 59 caps. Since retiring from a hamstring injury in 2014, Hugo has gone on to forge a career in the outdoor advertising industry setting up Trotter UK and Screenzled UK. In addition to this, he enjoys continuing to work as an Ambassador for both Wasps and Edinburgh Rugby and also commentating for Sky Sports, Premier Sports and BEIN Sports.
